Bible Society of India (BSI) – Empowering widows and suffering women of India Progress Report

From April to May 2022, BSI distributed Bibles to 500 primary beneficiaries. Taking into account the fact that many beneficiaries take their Bibles home to read to family or friends, this means that as many as 1,500 additional beneficiaries may have been reached with the Word of God. The following Bible distributions have taken place:

  • On April 24, 2022, 100 Hindi Bibles were distributed at the Dimapur Auxiliary’s Annual Thanksgiving function to the Women in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
  • On May 19, 2022, 100 Hindi Bibles were distributed at the Ranchi Auxiliary’s Annual Thanksgiving function and Mary Jones Festival to the women in Ranchi City, Ranchi Auxiliary.
  • On May 25 and 26, 2022, 260 Khasi Bibles and 40 Good News Bibles in English were distributed among women and youth at the programmes conducted for women and youth at Nonglum Presbyterian Church, Shillong and at Mawprem Presbyterian Church, Shillong. There are 1.6 million Khasi speakers in Meghalaya State.

2022 proved to be a better year for the programme than the previous two years as the pandemic was not so prevalent and they were able to run events and distribute Bibles directly to beneficiaries.
